My First Mother's Day

It was only when I got to celebrate my first mother's day that I realised why that day existed. I think as a kid, you're somewhat ungrateful of just how much care, time and effort your mother puts in, and when it comes to mother's day, you know the routine, you try not to annoy her too much, you make an effort to clean up after yourself and you'll get her a gift - depending on the age will determine how home made it is. But you really don't understand the value of mother's day until you experience it for yourself.

I had a great day. Adam made me breakfast in bed - nothing fancy, but it was perfect. It was my usual. Coffee and two pieces of toast with fig jam. It was funny though, just as Adam got up to make me breakfast, Anna woke up. So she joined us for breakfast in bed, which was rather nice. She is the reason I got the celebrate this day.

Then we went to Chadstone for some window shopping and a stroll, a rare event - Anna is usually crying and Adam would be complaining. But it was Mother's day, so everyone was well behaved.

And Adam bought me an Eternity ring. I reckon I deserved a bit of bling on mother's day!

Then we went over to Pa and Tiff's house for a feast - They made sure that my first Mother's day was one to remember. And I also got a 1 hour massage voucher - a proper one, not one written by hand that'll never be redeemed :) And we had Pa's world famous roast and a passionfruit cheesecake with mango sauce and mousse. It was nice to celebrate mother's day with Dad and Tiff, and Lauren and Jason, as my mum's currently in Europe. And Lauren soaked up the occasion, she scored some chocolates and a massage too! Fair enough, she cares for 25 kids every day. But it's when you push one out that you then get breakfast in bed.

Well to a memorable mother's day - thank you to Adam, for not letting me down and for giving me the best thing in life - my baby girl. And to my daughter of course, you are the reason I get this day, it's a mother's right of passage, and something that only mother's can enjoy (and Lauren's) and even without this day, you give me mother's day every day.

And after I soaked up all the novelties of the day, I say 'I am so worth this!', and I deserve the title,

Mum.x
