Friendship Woes

Anna has a best friend at school. Her name is Amelia, and funnily enough, they look incredibly alike. Anna and Amelia have sort of become the ring leaders at school, but what's interesting is that Amelia is the naughty one, Anna is her good conscience. The other day, Jodi (Anna's teacher) informed me that she heard Anna say a swear word. Unfortunately, once Anna and Amelia started saying it, all the other kids followed. Jodi described it as the whole classroom 'chanting' - imagine a whole group of little kids yelling "f***ing hell!".

I asked Anna about it, and although she was cheeky in her response, she was quick to say that Amelia had told her the word.

Today, however, Anna was sad. She told me that Amelia was not her best friend anymore, and that Mia was Amelia's best friend today instead. She told me that it made her sad. I told her that she can still be Amelia's friend and also Mia's friend. And there are lots of other lovely kids to play with there too. But inside, my heart was breaking. No one tells you how heartbreaking it is when your child has friendship woes.

Growing Up

Sometimes I look at Anna and still see this tiny baby girl. Other times, she has gone from that tiny baby girl to a real little girl in the blink of an eye.

Playground

As my weeks are so busy with study and domestic duties on an industrial level, I try to spend quality time with the kids on the weekend. It's my reprieve.

Rugged up for winter

I don't like winter, it's depressing. Almost like there's a default seasonal shift in my happiness in life during winter. So I try to embrace it. Being all rugged up in winter coats and running around in their undies inside because the heater is up so high it may as well be summer.

Midnight

Most nights Anna wakes up, either to go to the toilet or her asthma, and she always asks to play the photo game. She loves having her picture taken, and when she looks through them after she finds it hilarious. I really love this time, even though she should be asleep I can't help but just chat and hang out with her; it's quiet and no distractions. It's quality time :)

Family

My little girls are so lucky to have such a loving and big family, who are always present in their lives.

A hand

Mum often comes around to give me a hand with the kids. It really helps.
