Time with Pa

Anna is on school holidays and has spent some time with dad while I'm at uni. She is having a wonderful time!

Special place at work

Mum dropped Millie off at childcare the other day. Millie had painted her a picture, so she told millie she would take it to work with her and put it up on the wall. Millie's face beamed when she saw this picture!

These kids

Kitty

Mum bought Millie a very lifelike toy cat for her birthday. She is utterly obsessed with it, and takes it everywhere. She has discovered that the purring it makes is quite a nice sleep aid- she's been sleeping through the night every night since she's had the cat in bed with her. She calls it 'Kitty'.

Selfie

Anna found my phone and somehow worked out how to use the camera. She took a selfie. Cheeky girl.

Best Friends

Something that we often say to each other at home is that we're not just family, we're best friends. I started using that term to demonstrate to the girls that we need to be kind to each other. It's odd, because you would think being family and being kind to each other would come hand in hand, but it seems to work. It also makes our relationship feel a little extra special, as if it helps them to feel that they are my equal. When it's 'mummy and the girls', there's an obvious difference in authority and an indirect segregation of sorts. But when we use 'best friends', there seems to be less resistance and more cooperation. I think it's something special to the girls. If Millie has been naughty and I aptly point out the naughty behaviour to her, she always says to me 'but I'm still your best friend'. And if I've been angry at Anna, she will say 'I know you still love me even when you're mad at me because we're best friends'.
