Waking Baby

Just as per my blog below, this is a video of Anna waking up - she greets me with a smile every time!

Shhh! Sleeping Baby

I thought I'd give you all an insight to Anna's world of sleep.

She doesn't particularly like falling asleep, as most babies don't, and will always put up a fight - but a quick surrender to a dummy. Its so sweet to see how much comfort she gets out of the dummy.

Sometimes, if she's sleepy, but not sleepy enough, I'll sit with her for 20 minutes until she's happy to fall asleep. Its really quite a nice time, watching her doze off - the hands come up to rub her eyes, the little tired sighs and long yawns, the arms slowly flop, and she keeps one eye open, just to make sure I'm still there. Then I'll wrap her up in an angel wrap and she goes down with no protest - those are the best nights :)

Sometimes, during the night, I'll wake to one mighty 'Waaah'...but only one. This makes me laugh - I think she's upset that she had fallen asleep, but is too tired to fuss about it - back off to dreamland.

Sometimes she does wake up in the middle of the night if she's kicked off her blankets and she's cold. Silly Silly! In fact - every morning when I go to pick her up, the blankets are off, and she's at the other end of the cot.

Anna is a very light sleeper - any slight noise, like the creek of a chair or shutting her door and she'd wake up. Despite our efforts to have her get used to a noisy environment, such as having the iDock in the nursery, we find we have to tiptoe around while Anna is asleep. She must get that from me - you could drop a pin and I'd wake up.

In the mornings, the sun is up and is just coming through her curtains, it makes the room feel so warm and welcoming, and she always greets me with a smile, even if it's interrupting a hungry cry. Sometimes I'll wake up before she does and wonder why she hasn't called for me yet - I'll go in and catch her talking away to Heather and Oscar, happy just to lay there.

And recently, when I go in to pick her up and wonder why she's let me sleep in a bit, I catch her sucking away on her little thumb. She's mastered the art.

She's giving me about 7 hours every night now. She knows its bedtime. She's so smart :)

Love you baby.

Just thinking back to when I was pregnant with Anna - it's amazing, that whole time, when we were wondering who this little person was going to be, it was Anna all along!
Just thought I'd bring you all back for a moment.

Heather and Oscar

I'd like to formally introduce Anna's best friends 'Heather' and 'Oscar'.

At night time, you can hear her talking away to them.

Stay tuned for the many adventures of Anna, Oscar and Heather to come!

Growing Up So Fast!

Anna is showing so many new skills this week - she's really getting cosy in her life outside mummy's tummy.
She can now grasp things and pull them to her mouth, and she's mastered sucking her thumb.
She can entertain herself now, she just talks away, and she loves TV.

And she loves looking at herself in the mirror - its so funny she laughs at herself!

And her muscles are so strong now, she's rolling over confidently, and she's pushing up flat footed now to bring her bottom up when she's on her tummy - she'll be crawling in no time.
And while Daddy is away camping, Mummy gets really bored - I thought it'd be fun to go walkies!

We've had a great weekend, just mum and Anna!

Baby Talk

Every week, Anna is showing so much more personality and her developments are very noticeable - we love seeing the new and amazing things she does, she always has us entertained!

Its so funny when she's been put to bed for the night, and we hear her giggle while she dreams. And she's just worked out how fun her legs can be, so there's lots of kicking about and pulling her feet up to her chin.

Here is a video of her babbling a bit, but I must say, she is camera shy (off camera, we can't shut her up! At night time, she's busy talking to her teddy's Oscar and Heather)

And here are some photos of her, just 'cause she's adorable.

It's been the best three months of our lives.

With love,
